DATASHEET

Host: Rabbit

Target Protein: Synaptophysin 2

Specificity: Specific for endogenous levels of the ~38 kDa Synaptophysin 2 protein.

Clonality: Polyclonal

Isotype: IgG

Entrez Gene: 66030

Swiss Prot: P22831

Source: Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region of rat synaptophysin 2, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH).

Purification: Antigen Affinity purification from Pooled whole antiserum

Storage Buffer: 10 mM HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg per ml BSA and 50% glycerol.

Storage: Storage at -20°C is recommended, as aliquots may be taken without freeze/thawing due to presence of 50% glycerol. Stable for at least 1 year at -20°C.

Background:

Synaptophysin 2, also known as Synaptoporin, is a component of the synaptic vesicle membrane and thought to play an important role in synaptic vesicle trafficking (Dai et al., 2003). It is highly homologous to Synaptophysin 1, yet differs in expression. Whereas Synaptophysin 1 is ubiquitously expressed, Synaptophysin 2 is concentrated in the mossy fiber synapses of the hippocampus (Grabs et al., 1994; Singec et al., 2002).
